Surprise!

For the last week I've been addicted to Pandora, which is a huge surprise.

I've always hated digital music. Anyone with ears knows that cd's sound worse than vinyl, and that even the best MP3 file, using the highest bit rate, absolutely sucks. And then of course, most people listen to them through those @$%$&* earbuds, and really why should a musican even bother?

I've fairly decent speakers with a subwoofer hooked up to my computer, and in the past I've tried LAST-FM (please go away and die now), and have used Realplayer, Microsoft Windows Media Player, and Win-Amp (truely rot in hell, Win-Amp programmers). It just ain't great sound.

But I'm addicted to Pandora, because they have a great site for finding new music. Is the sound any good? Nooo. But turn it on in the background, only pay half attention to it, and sooner or later something cool and new pops up. Then I go to Amazon and buy it, which of course is the point behind Pandora and why it's free.

Plus it's a great place to play "guess the algorythm."
